8 Channel Servo Controller

C08A offers reliable yet user friendly RC Servo motor controller to hobbyist and students. This SC08A can control 8 channels of servo simultaneusly
The advantages of this SC08A over SC16A are user is able to deactivate any servo channel at any time and user can even set the initial position of any channel at the next start up. Each servo signal pin is able to generate servo pulses from 0.5 ms to 2.5 ms, which is greater than the range of most servos, further allows for servos to operate 180 degrees. SC08A comes with small size and different protocol compare to SC16A.Through serial communication, SC08A can be daisy chain in 2 boards to offer independent control over 16 RC servo motors simultaneously. The host of SC08A can either be a PC desktop/Laptop with USB to serial(UART) converter, or microcontroller with UART interface. UART interface present a flexible, fast and easy to use feature.

It is designed with capabilities and features of:

  • 8 channels: Servo driven independently
  • Extendable to 16 Channels: Two controller linked together to drive 16 servos
  • Optional Position Reporting: User may request position of an individual servo
  • Servo Activation for each channel: User may deactivate or activate any channel of servo
  • Independent Starting Position Command for each channel: User may set the initial position of any channel at the next start-up
  • Optional Servo Ramping: Choose one of 100 ramp rate for each servo
  • Resolution: 8000 steps = 0.25us
  • UART: 9600 baud rate
  • Servo pulse range: 0.5ms to 2.5ms
  • Dimension : 49mm x 46mm

Research #5

To construct the servo controller circuit, i choose Peripheral Integrated Circuit (PIC). From every each hardware, try to get the result and make analysis for every hardware circuit. The cost of benefit analysis which considers the cost of outage and the cost of controller circuit will also be performed to ensure that the  robot design configuration at a right cost.

 Servo Motor

Servos are controlled by sending them a pulse of variable width.
why i choose servo?? because i  can set and forget, and it will adjusts itself during continued operation through
feedback. A servo motor consists of several main parts; the motor and gearbox, a position sensor, an error  amplifier
and motor driver and a circuit to decode the requested position. Photo below contains a block diagram of a typical
servo motor unit.

Research #1

Objective
  • To complete in the inter section robotic challenge.
  • To implement a walking robot that can move and avoid obstacles.
  • To built a robot those can challenge the speed in time given.
  • To understand the function of a PIC microcontroller as the brains behind the robot.

WEEK 3

In this week, I've been given a rough ideas about this project competition from my advisor (Sir Ismail Adam)

He says that one of the qualification sizes for the robot must be less than 25cm x 25cm while the maze size is 12 by 12. The robot must walk in 7 foot straight line from end to end and will be calculate the number of loop (start to end) within 10 minutes.

As for the rules, no wheels are allowed to be use onto the robot include for rolling. The motors with max of 210 degree movement are allowed. Which mean the robot with motors of 360 degree movement are disqualify in this competition.

From the rules above, I've decide to get some ideas from any robot with a servo then will be upgrade as applicable for this competition.

Hope I'll get the ideas. :)

WEEK 2

WEEK 2

Nowadays there a lot of walking robot  have being created in this world to inform the people about the new technology.

Below is the  example  of robot

From this technology, I get the idea that if we can build the walking robot. My idea is to create a system that can help human to investigate any problem
